Provide trauma-informed legal assistance and representation to survivors of domestic violence in protection order and family law cases for the Domestic Violence Legal Advocacy Project (DV LEAD). Work in collaboration with referrals from community and systems-based survivor-focused advocacy organizations. This is a grant funded position which is contingent on continued funding.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Advocacy:Provide representation to survivors in DVPO and family law matters;
Draft necessary legal pleadings in DVPO and family law matters and appear in court on behalf of clients including hearings and trial;

Position Mission
The Event Coordinator is part of the Member Services Department and reports to the Member Services Director. The Event Coordinator has primary responsibility for oversight, planning, coordination, management, and evaluation of events to ensure that the program operates as expected and functions to achieve long-term goals and objectives.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Event Planning:
Primary responsibility for planning and coordinating King County Bar’s large events including the Annual Awards Reception, Martin Luther King Jr. Luncheon, Breakfast With Champions, Bar Scholars Reception, Past Presidents Reception, New Lawyers Division Spring Soiree, and New Member Mixer, and others as devised by Member Services Director and/or Events Coordinator.
Assists other Member Services team members with planning and coordination of events that arise out of other programs such as Continuing Legal Education, Sections, and/or New Lawyers Division, as needed.
Provides primary support to the MLK Luncheon Planning Committee and the Breakfast With Champions Planning Committee, including scheduling virtual and/or in-person committee meetings; communicating with Committee Chairs regarding agendas for upcoming meetings; distributing documents and agendas prior to meetings; preparing internal information vital to Committee planning such as tally of sponsors, contract execution with vendors and speakers, and budget information; and taking detailed notes during committee meetings.
Maintains year-long planning documents for each event and ensures all deadlines are calendared and met.
Communicates directly with event venues to secure proposals and quotes as needed; requests contract edits from venues as needed before sending contracts to Member Services Director and Executive Director for review and signing; assists planning committees with menu selection and other details; and provides venue with final attendee numbers.
Communicates directly with audio/visual vendors to secure proposals and quotes as needed; meets with potential vendors to go over proposals and confirm KCBA/KCBF’s requirements will be met; reviews contracts and recommends edits prior to sending to Member Services Director and Executive Director for review and signing.
Works with outside sources to secure speakers for MLK Luncheon and Breakfast With Champions; relays information regarding potential speakers to planning committees; reviews and adjusts contracts for speakers; creates speaker itineraries; secures lodging and transportation for speakers.
Builds event registration webpages on KCBA website to ensure smooth registration process for public and most efficient back-of-house use; takes initiative to obtain constant updates and trainings from KCBA’s Association Management Software (AMS) to ensure best use of website registration functionalities.
Assists with creation of marketing materials; delivers content to Marketing Specialist in a timely manner to ensure adequate time for creation of materials and publication.
Creates and maintains spreadsheets of all attendees, sponsors, and table captains; determines most appropriate table assignments for events requiring such assignment and ensures registrant names and table assignments are ready in time for printing of nametags.
Responds to telephone, email and in-person inquiries regarding events and programs, distributing information as appropriate; drafts correspondence to members and event attendees.
Inventory Management:
Determines necessary signage for events; creates all signage; orders new signage materials as needed. Maintains inventory of nametags, nametag ribbons, and meal cards and orders additional inventory as necessary.
Creates standard operating procedures for use of ribbons at various events.
Maintains all supplies in an organized and orderly manner.
Ensures the timely return of all event supplies to proper location following event.
Maintains all tablecloths, ensuring all are clean, ironed, and properly stored for use at next event.
Sponsorship:
Strategizes sponsorship opportunities for events and other programming, working with Member Services Director and Member Services team.
Follows up with sponsors and attendees to ensure payment of all invoices and donation pledges.
Logs all sponsorships for year-to-year comparison; analyzes sponsorship trends to determine necessary adjustments to program.
Event Execution:
Manages all day-of-event logistics, including “run of show” documents, schedules for volunteers and staff, and information for tech support team.
Develops final list of attendees and meal selections; prints nametags for all attendees; determines ribbons needed for attendees; directs staff and volunteers on execution of full nametag construction and organization.
Collects all items necessary for event, including attendee lists, seating charts, signage, nametags, tablecloths, and other items; transports all items to venue.
Takes lead on all set-up for event, including providing direction to staff and volunteers; acts as primary contact with venue and other vendors; troubleshoots with venue and audio visual company to ensure all set-up is successfully executed.

Position Mission
The position reports to the Administration and Operations Senior Manager. This position provides front desk reception and general office support for the King County Bar Association. This position is full-time, in person, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am- 5:00 pm at the KCBA main office in downtown Seattle.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Open the office each morning. Office hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Answer multi-line telephone system and route incoming calls to correct staff or refer to appropriate outside agency; return all voice mail calls and route as needed

Receive and announce clients and visitors
Route incoming faxes to appropriate staff members, scan, fax, and copy documents as requested

Mission

The Housing Justice Project (HJP) is a homelessness prevention program providing accessible legal services to low-income, residential tenants facing eviction in King County. Legal assistance is provided through counsel and advice, negotiated settlements, limited representation at Show Cause hearings, and/or referrals depending on tenants’ needs and financial eligibility.
Position Mission
The Legal Assistant is responsible for: a) screening tenants and conducting intakes b) tracking deadlines and filings dates for court actions; c) assist with court filings and assembling required documents; d) assist with eviction data entry and tracking. Advocacy:
Staff in-person clinics in Kent or Seattle and conduct in-person intakes;

The Housing Justice Project (HJP) is a homelessness prevention program providing accessible, volunteer-based legal services to low-income, residential tenants facing eviction in King and Spokane Counties. Legal assistance is provided through counsel and advice, negotiated settlements, limited representation at Show Cause hearings, and/or referrals depending on tenants’ needs and financial eligibility.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Spokane HJP Legal Assistant/Resource Coordinator will work inside the courthouse to coordinate tenants with eviction defense/right-to-counsel services when tenants arrive at their hearing unrepresented. The Coordinator will also work with other local organizations and nonprofits to refer tenants to resources outside of right-to-counsel and HJP’s scope of representation. The Legal Assistant/Coordinator will also assist with keeping track of deadlines and drafting court documents, and will be the first point of contact for our clients.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Advocacy:
Must be present at Spokane Superior Courthouse, M-Thu for the 9:00 AM UDA Docket, to help screen and intake tenants for right to counsel representation
Coordinate intakes for our pre-filing, counsel and advice clinic
Connect tenants with resources tangential to their tenancy, including:
Rental assistance
Utilities assistance
Relocation assistance
Code enforcement
Domestic Violence advocacy
Coordinate with political leaders and community organizers regarding upcoming events relating to tenant’s rights, such as city council meetings, town hall meetings, fundraisers;

Legal Advice and Referral for Kinship Care (LAARK) Mission
The mission of LAARK is to provide guidance and legal advice by phone to kinship caregivers statewide on matters that relate to their ability to meet physical, mental, social, educational, and other needs of children and youth in their care. Kinship caregivers are relatives, such as grandparents, who are caring for children when their parents are unable to do so, and who encounter legal issues when providing this care. Topics include guardianship, the child welfare system, and other issues relating to child custody. The LAARK team currently consists of two full-time attorneys and one legal assistant, and is supervised by the statewide kinship care legal aid coordinator.
POSITION
The Legal Assistant is responsible for: (a) tracking and documenting voice mail messages left on the LAARK phone line; (b) calling clients to screen for LAARK program eligibility and creating an electronic case file in Legal Server; (c) mailing publications and other materials to clients; (d) assisting with maintaining electronic legal files in Legal Server; (e) assisting with client case tracking and follow up; and (f) other administrative tasks. Neighborhood Legal Clinics (NLC) is a KCBA Pro Bono program that provides limited legal advice and referrals to King County residents and individuals with cases filed in King County courts. This position will support the NLC client intake & referral process, with a focus on recruiting and hiring interns, administrative duties, and customer service. This position reports to the NLC Program Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Intern Recruitment & Training
Create quarterly recruitment plans & onboarding schedule for NLC Interns
Interview and hire NLC Interns on a quarterly basis, conduct initial onboarding process, and complete initial administrative set-up for new volunteers
Create and maintain NLC Intern training materials
Update and revise common referrals guide for NLC Interns as needed
Maintain established partnerships with local community organizations and schools
Post internship openings on school community service boards, KCBA website, etc.
Develop and implement ideas to improve the internship position
Develop and maintain community partnerships
Administration
Monitor NLC email, voicemail, and other referral pipelines and input these applications to Legal Server client database
Generate reports to track client application volume and trends

POSITION MISSION
HJP is seeking an attorney to provide representation to tenants at risk of facing eviction throughout Washington State. In 2021, Washington became the first state to guarantee counsel to low-income tenants facing eviction. The attorney will assist tenants in pre-litigation settlement, represent tenants at eviction hearings in subsidized housing cases, assist accessing community resources, and work on providing community education. The attorney will provide counsel-and-advice to tenants at bi-monthly community legal clinics in Spokane assisted by pro bono attorneys. The attorney will have opportunities to contribute to policy initiatives as they arise. The position is partially remote but will require in-person appearances at the community clinic each month in Spokane, Washington. It may additionally require in-person court appearances in Spokane County and for planned staff meetings. At the moment, court appearances in Spokane County can be handled remotely.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Advocacy:
Provide counsel and advice to tenants at the in-person community clinic in Spokane, Washington;
Direct client representation with pre-litigation settlement negotiation, reasonable accommodation requests, habitability repair demands, and preparation for litigation;
Direct client representation of tenants facing eviction in unfiled subsidized housing cases;
Potential representation of established clients in unlawful detainer proceedings where unresolved in the pre-filing stage;
Perform trainings and community outreach;
Keep up with legislative and regulatory changes.
Administrative and Supervisory:
Review and oversee data input in Legal Server data management system;
Prepare reports, data, articles, and communications both for internal and community distribution;
Assist and participate in the development of community training materials and trainings on sustainable housing advocacy;
Prepare and participate in bi-monthly community legal clinics;

Reports to the Records Project Staff Attorney and Pro Bono Services Director. Provides administrative and legal support for the Records Project, which represents low-income individuals in vacating eligible criminal convictions primarily through volunteer attorneys. The Sections Coordinator is a part of the Member Services Department and reports to the Practice Support Senior Program Manager. The Sections Coordinator’s primary responsibility is oversight, planning, and coordination of KCBA’s Practice Area Sections to ensure that the practice groups operate as expected and that they function to achieve long-term goals and objectives. The Sections Coordinator is a hybrid remote/in-person position with an in-person requirement at the KCBA Seattle office at least two days a week or as needed to cover section meetings.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
The primary responsibility of this role will be to coordinate with the volunteer attorneys (section leadership) for each practice group to determine their yearly goals, lead them in executing those goals, and maintain the groups’ effectiveness for the membership at-large;
Maintains the internal and external monthly calendar of section meetings, including communicating with KCBA staff, ensuring events appear on KCBA website, and reserving conference rooms or outside venues as needed for hybrid/in-person meetings;
Provides logistical and administrative support for section leadership, including leading them in an annual volunteer orientation, monthly meeting planning, IT check-ins with Continuing Legal Education (“CLE”) presenters, IT support during monthly meetings, and application for CLE credit with the Washington State Bar Association (“WSBA”) for all section-hosted CLE programming;
Maintains section E-Communities (online web portals for members) and listservs to ensure that all communication to and between members is accessible;
Assists the KCBA Events Coordinator with section special events including happy hours, receptions, and other events outside the monthly lunchtime CLE model;
Communicates with section leadership regarding budgets, account balances, section sponsorships, and other financial matters;
Works with the Practice Support Senior Program Manager to set program goals and objectives and to determine measurements for success;
Evaluates the progress of each practice group and alerts the Practice Support Senior Program Manager where there are concerns regarding the program’s ability to meet set goals;
Edits, processes, and uploads all recorded CLE programs hosted by sections and maintains online video library submissions, as needed;
Manages KCBA Sections inbox and assists with other Member Services Department group inboxes to ensure excellent customer service throughout the entire department;
Assists with other, non-section events and activities as needed, including but not limited to educational events, board and member meetings, membership renewal campaigns, and marketing;
Performs other related duties as assigned.
